Volunteers Needed for Dane County Habitat Build Day

Updated: Oct 17, 2022

Agents from First Weber's Sun Prairie and East Madison offices pitched in recently to help on a Dane County Habitat for Humanity build day. And, says organizer Rose Freidel of the Sun Prairie Office, there is another opportunity to participate in a build day in November.

The crew had such a great time, they are coming back for a second build day on Thursday, Nov. 3, at a Dane County Habitat site in the Sun Prairie area. Rose is organizing the volunteers for this event, and there are only 8 slots available for this build day.

Rose stresses that no construction experience is necessary. "We just had fun on our build day," she said. "Some of came not knowing how to use power tools but the site supervisors taught us and gave us confidence in using the tools. By the end of the day, we were all using power tools and some volunteers were up in the rafters!" Overall, Rose says, this is a day to just have fun and build relationships with other First Weber agents and staff.

Expectations: Everything you need is provided, such as hard hats and tools. Come dressed for the weather and be sure to have a good, sturdy pair of shoes (tennis shoes are just fine, says Rose). Plan to be on site in the new Town Hall neighborhood of Sun Prairie by 8:15 am and work until 3, with clean-up until 3:30 pm. An hour is provided for lunch but you are encouraged to bring your lunch/beverages and not leave the build site.
